Cisco and Expo 2020 Dubai stamp over an alliance for 1500 days, where Cisco offers an immersive digital experience  for the region’s most anticipated event. Cisco’s network infrastructure will also be deployed at the Dubai Exhibition Center, strategically placed near the heart of the Expo 2020 Dubai site, the two organisations said today.

Delivering a secure, connected event space

For 182 days, Expo 2020 Dubai will host the world, inviting participants, sponsors, and visitors to create, collaborate, and innovate. The Dubai Exhibition Centre, a state-of-the-art venue with 45,000 square metres of dedicated space for events, exhibitions, conferences, and concerts of all sizes both during and after Expo 2020, will be a significant component of the Expo experience.

Cisco was chosen to deliver a state-of-the-art network that would be the cornerstone for the digital infrastructure at the Dubai Exhibition Centre after proving proven competence in establishing, managing, and maintaining the network at the Expo 2020 Dubai site. This network deployment represents the largest of its kind for an event space in the region.

Cisco will deliver an end-to-end security solution with powerful firewalls, network access control (NAC), and web proxy server capabilities as part of the deployment. These technologies will operate together to enhance secure network access, improve network visibility, and reduce network operational risk.

“Our ambition has always been to take the World Expo experience to new heights. Having the right network infrastructure and strategic collaboration in place is key. Over the years, Cisco has proved to be a trusted partner and consultant helping to accelerate our digitization agenda and to provide seamless and secure connectivity for employees, volunteers, participants and visitors alike at Expo 2020 and the Dubai Exhibition Centre,” said Mohammed Alhashmi, Chief Technology Officer at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The technology behind the solution: automating devices, tools and services via Ciscos Network Services Orchestrator (NSO)

Large companies and service providers frequently use Network Services Orchestrator (NSO) solutions. Cisco is deploying its NSO technology in an event area for the first time, as the Dubai Exhibition Centre is likely to see significant network demand. NSO frees application and service owners to focus on improving the visitor experience by delivering services up to 90% faster thanks to its automation capabilities.

Cisco’s NSO technology will be demonstrated at the Dubai Exhibition Centre to simplify network operations through automation and the ability to interact with many vendors and technological domains. As a result, the venue will be able to make network and service changes while in live production, continuously improving the connected experience for visitors. Furthermore, NSO will assist in the orchestration of all deployed network infrastructures, and an intuitive dashboard will allow for smooth management of all available network services.
