Cisco to demonstrate latest security innovations at Black Hat MEA 2022

Cisco will demonstrate its latest portfolio of security innovations at Black Hat MEA 2022, highlighting how organizations in Saudi Arabia can secure their workplaces as hybrid work continues to gain traction.

Black Hat MEA is being held in Riyadh from November 15th to 17th, 2022, and is co-organized by the Saudi Federation of Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones (SAFCSP).

Attendees will hear Cisco’s vision for making workforces more productive and secure, no matter where they work. The shift to long-term hybrid work and the rise of sophisticated attacks have increased the risk of cyber threats against critical infrastructure, businesses, and organizations. It is more important than ever to focus on achieving security resilience in order to protect business integrity, withstand unpredictable threats, and emerge stronger.

“It is increasingly critical for IT decisionmakers to achieve security resilience, protecting the integrity of their business to withstand threats and emerge stronger,” said Fady Younes, Cybersecurity Director, EMEA Service Providers and MEA, Cisco.

“Black Hat MEA provides a strategic platform for industry leaders to align and discuss the future of cybersecurity. At Cisco, we believe that organizations can be more successful if they invest in the right kind of security solutions,” he added.

Cisco will be present at booth H3. B30 highlighting the following key innovations across its security portfolio:

Zero Trust

Multi-cloud environments, a lack of visibility, and constantly evolving cyber threats have created a new reality that traditional security models cannot handle. Everyone can become an insider threat in a hybrid-first world. A Zero Trust model can assist organizations in protecting their business’s integrity by securing access in a way that frustrates attackers rather than users.

Customers in Saudi Arabia can now use Duo Passwordless Authentication to secure Single Sign On (SSO) applications. Customers can use biometrics (Windows Hello and Mac Touch ID) and security keys to log in without a password. Cisco is expanding its passwordless authentication options with the Duo Mobile app. As global biometric adoption has stalled after several years of rapid growth, this will simplify implementation and lower total cost of ownership for customers, as well as better meet the needs of all end-users. Biometrics were enabled on 81% of mobile devices used by Duo customers.

Network Security

Employees are back in the office, according to data. Since peaking in 2020, remote access authentications have declined, reaching pre-pandemic levels in 2022. Organizations are demanding high-performance network security without the added cost as hybrid work becomes the new normal.

Cisco is introducing the Secure Firewall 3100 Series, the first firewalls purpose-built for hybrid work, to better meet the needs of customers. Secure Firewall 3105 expands branch office sizing options at a price point more organizations can afford. It provides hybrid workers with more remote user support and boosts VPN speed and performance by 17X.

Secure Connectivity

Customers are concerned about data security as critical resources are moved to the cloud. The problem is only getting worse, as cloud application authentications increased by 24% in 2022. Data must be protected not only from malicious threat actors, but also from unintentional problems caused by inexperienced users. Cisco enhanced its Umbrella solution, the foundation of Cisco’s Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) offering, with stronger data loss prevention (DLP) capabilities to assist with this, making management easier for security teams.

Threat Detection & Response

Cisco’s approach to Extended Threat Detection and Response (XDR) is distinct in that it connects proprietary Cisco security solutions as well as third-party solutions, aggregating and correlating associated alert and telemetry data, providing actionable insights, and providing immediate response capabilities. Cisco’s SecureX platform can build on the benefits of existing SIEM or SOAR solutions to provide fast value for security teams with little to no calibration.
