CommScope has launched DOCSIS 3.1 cable gateways to boost home internet performance. With the release of its new Touchstone TG644x DOCSIS 3.1 cable gateways, CommScope continues to expand its Wi-Fi 6 home network gateway range.

With the popularity of online gaming, video conferencing, AR/VR, and other delay-sensitive applications on the rise, the need for low-latency broadband services has never been stronger. The TG644x gateway is compatible with CommScope’s end-to-end Low Latency DOCSIS (LLD) solution, which creates a fast lane for delay-sensitive data from the home to the headend and back, while Wi-Fi 6‘s expanded capabilities minimise latency and jitter in communications to the end device.

High split with a switched diplexer is supported by the gateways, allowing for flexible deployment options to satisfy the demand for greater upstream capacity, such as when using video conferencing to work and learn from home.

By deploying the new TG644x gateways, service providers are providing subscribers with the confidence they will not drop a video call or miss an online lesson,” said Ken Haase, Vice President, Product Management, CommScope. “Gamers will be able to take advantage of lower latency, thus giving them the competitive edge by reducing lag or buffering.”

Service providers can use the TG644x gateways to deliver multi-gigabit data rates to and around the home and small business, as well as dependable ultra-HD video over Wi-Fi. These cutting-edge Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 6 gateways are designed to act as the central hub of a subscriber’s network, connecting all IP capable devices (such as internet, data, voice, and video) throughout the customer’s premises.

“With more people working and learning from home, all their connected devices are placing increased demand on the home network,”Haase added. “With the enhanced performance and connectivity of our new Wi-Fi 6 gateways, service providers can provide their subscribers with the ability to connect more devices to their network with enhanced reliability.”

The gateways can be augmented with CommScope’s X5 Wi-Fi 6 extender to give high-performance and controlled Wi-Fi coverage across the home if more coverage is needed to illuminate dead spots. CommScope’s HomeAssure Managed Wi-Fi solutions can also be used to manage the gateways, resulting in optimised, high-performance Wi-Fi coverage throughout the home. The TG644x gateways also support SNMP and TR-069 remote management protocols, which can be controlled with CommScope’s ECO Service Management solutions to help service providers save money. It gives service providers visibility into subscribers’ home networks as well as the capacity to automate and control their devices and experiences.

Several service providers have already chosen CommScope’s TG644x gateway, so keep an eye out for future announcements, according to Haase.

These gateways will be part of CommScope’s Low Latency DOCSIS solutions, which will be on display at the virtual SCTEISBE Cable-Tec Expo from October 11-14, 2021, and the IBC 2021 Show from December 3-6, 2021 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands (Stand: 1.A19).
