Eaton’s new emergency lighting range makes installation and monitoring convenient

Eaton has announced the debut of the new RoundTech luminaire line and the CGLine+ Web compact controller, which will make emergency lighting installation and remote monitoring convenient.

While the RoundTech line simplifies the worldwide emergency lighting industry by providing a single solution for every system that uses self-contained (SC) technology, ranging from standalone to monitored systems. Thanks to its ‘at a glance’ display, the new CGLine+ Web compact controller makes it simple to monitor self-contained system status remotely – without the use of software or other equipment.

RoundTech combines quick installation with high performance and adjustable eFocus (electronic focus) capabilities, making it suitable for use in both escape routes and open spaces. When it comes to planning projects and installing emergency lights in a variety of locations, the range gives emergency lighting experts more options.

Ashraf Yehia, Managing Director, Eaton Middle East, said, “RoundTech’s circular format offers a key design advantage already widely recognized in the mains lighting sector. It can be installed far more quickly and efficiently using round, standard-sized cut-out tools than when square or rectangular units are specified. Engineered for any standard hole size between 64mm up to 78mm, RoundTech uses a 110mm diameter round bezel footprint to complete its flush, recessed look and complement the aesthetics of any round-shaped mains downlighting nearby.”

If the interior design and lighting look and feel need it, a square bezel footprint is also available as a swappable accessory at the time of order. Designers who want to go beyond the four basic RoundTech hues of white, dark grey, silver, and black may choose from a wide range of colours for both round and square bezel footprints.

RoundTech’s performance, supplied by a low-temperature light engine in a compact housing with an excellent IP65 certification, goes hand-in-hand with ease of installation. The range is available in a variety of configurations, as well as Low Bay and High Bay choices.

RoundTech’s unique eFocus features, which build on Eaton’s track record for innovation with products like dual-mounting exit signs, expedite product buying with a single order number, as well as making on-site modifications and mistakes easier. Installers may rapidly set the multi-lens light engine for tight escape routes or broad anti-panic open areas using a simple dip-switch at the time of installation. RoundTech additionally gives the option to dim from 100% to 70% or 30% in anti-panic mode when using mains power to fit places where lower illumination levels are preferred.

RoundTech also sets a milestone for sustainability with the use of environmentally benign LiFeP04 (Lithium Ion) batteries throughout the range rather than ecologically harmful NiCad cells, as well as thorough eco-footprint comparisons with prior luminaire lines.

The CGLine+ Web compact controller, on the other hand, enables safe and cost-effective emergency lighting system maintenance in temporarily vacated premises, such as an out-of-season hotel, a school closed over the summer, an office empty overnight or longer – or any building undergoing change of use.

The new controller enables the building owner or facilities manager to conduct maintenance checks prior to, during, and after the facility’s closure and power outage. It also stops CGLine+ luminaires from going on when the mains power is turned off by making the Blocking feature easily accessible. As a result, they not only avoid costly damage and annoyance if batteries are left fully drained for an extended length of time, but they also save energy by not charging them in an empty building.

Ashraf added, “There’s a lot at stake when it comes to ensuring emergency lighting systems are operating in peak condition. From the safety of the building’s occupantsto protecting its physical structure and the valuable equipment inside it. CGLine+ brings peace of mind round the clock, as well as contributing to sustainability, by enabling easy remote monitoring of self-contained systems from any connected location.”

The online controller allows owners and managers to verify system health status remotely (and reduce their carbon footprint) and arrange function and duration tests at a time that is convenient for them. If testing reveals that a luminaire replacement or other repair is required, order the part ahead of time to reduce any time spent on-site.
