The Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA) has concluded its space technology training course. The course is part of the African Development Satellite Initiative’s implementation (AfDev-Sat). The idea was conceived in response to Egypt’s invitation by heads of agencies from Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, and Sudan. The mission of AfDev-SAT is to promote collaboration and capacity development in Africa’s space sector.

The training was completed by the Egyptian Space Agency on Thursday, August 5th, 2021. Trainees came from Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Sudan, and Uganda for the training. In addition, the training was held at EgSA’s headquarters. The training continued for two weeks in a row. There were 16 men and women among the trainees. They also completed the training under the supervision of the agency’s specialised engineers. As a result, the engineers were able to keep a continual eye on the development of the schedules. A cultural component was included in the course. The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, the iconic pyramids, the Khan Al-Khalili neighbourhood, the numerous contemporary marketplaces, and free trips to many other known tourist destinations in Cairo were among the highlights.

EgSA’s CEO, Dr. Mohammed Al-Qusi, and Deputy, Prof. Muhammad Iraqi, greeted and honoured the trainees during the closing ceremony. In addition, the CEO and his deputy presented certificates of gratitude to the trainees. Similarly, the participants acknowledged their delight and contentment with what they received and learnt during the training course. During the event, Dr. Mohammed Al-Qusi also stated that Egypt places a high value on developing its connections with sister African countries in space activities, particularly in light of future difficulties.

This approach is in EgSA’s best interests and aligns with its desire to develop African connections. In this way, EgSA hopes to give a chance for hands-on instruction in a variety of space technology approaches. Engineering disciplines are among these fields (communication, software, and design of the lunar structure). Similarly, the training programme intended to develop African capacities so that learners could construct similar and emulated systems in their own nations.

The program’s practical character, according to EgSA, was an unmatched accomplishment on the continent.
