Abu Dhabi to Host Amazon University Esports Masters

Abu Dhabi is gearing up to host the prestigious Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports Masters, marking a significant event in the MENA region’s college esports scene. Set to take place on July 5 and 6 at Pixoul Gaming, this third edition will see intense competition among university students from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Morocco in popular games like League of Legends and VALORANT.

Two UAE teams, “Kamikaze UAE” and “PifThePaf UAE,” emerged victorious from rigorous Qualifying and Play-Off rounds to represent their country. In League of Legends, “Kamikaze UAE” faces off against Saudi Arabia’s “Team Bismillah KSA” for the championship title, while in VALORANT, “PifThePaf UAE” competes against teams from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Morocco in a series of Semifinals leading to the Grand Final.

The tournament, organized by MENATech Entertainment in collaboration with the Emirates Esports Federation, highlights the growing prominence of esports in university settings. It serves as a platform for students to showcase their skills, supported by a thriving gaming market in the UAE projected to grow from USD 420.90 million in 2024 to USD 492.90 million by 2027.

With a regional prize pool of USD 50,000, sponsored by Riot Games and Shahid, the event underscores esports’ role in global education and professional development.
