The Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition (AV15-51R) is a limited-edition Acer Aspire Vero laptop that embodies the company’s commitment to a more sustainable future. Each purchase of this environmentally conscious laptop contributes to the work of the National Geographic Society, a global charity located in the United States that works to conserve our planet through exploration, research, and teaching.

“Acer has been taking steps over the past several years toreduce its ecological footprint. The Vero product lineup, born from our Earthion platform, represents the latest of these efforts,” said James Lin, General Manager, Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc.

He added, “We’re pleased with the reception the Aspire Vero has received from users and media alike, and we hope our efforts will encourage partners and industry colleagues to take similar steps in their own capacity.”

ReduceMinimal Footprint Design

The style of the original Aspire Vero is determined by the material blend utilised in its chassis, which is made up of 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic that was carefully chosen for its balance of durability, rigidity, and beauty. Without the use of paint, yellow pigment dots contrast with the rough grey surface to give the laptop personality. The National Geographic Edition of the Aspire Vero expands on this aesthetic and presents a compelling tale.

The first thing users will notice are many diagonal lines that span across about half of the top cover. These lines, which divide the laptop’s surface into land and sea and refer to the impact of global warming on increasing sea levels, are a short clip from a topographic map. The iconic National Geographic yellow border is printed immediately onto the bottom right corner of the keyboard when the laptop is opened. The slogan “For Planet Earth” is printed in yellow on the spacebar.

Reuse Packaging with a Purpose

The Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition demonstrates, at first glance, that the life of computer packaging does not have to end with delivery. The laptop’s inside packaging was created to be a multifunctional package that can be repurposed in its entirety once consumers have set up their device. The box itself has enough personality to blend in with the user’s surroundings—perhaps on top of a dresser or in the corner of a desk—and the inside partition may be folded into a triangular laptop stand.

The laptop is protected by Acer’s revolutionary packaging design, which uses just 85 percent recycled paper, a 100 percent industrial recycled plastic (PIR) laptop sleeve, and an extra sheet of 100 percent PIR plastic that rests between the display and keys.

Recycle Easily Upgradeable Laptop

The Acer Aspire National Geographic Edition’s chassis is made up of 30% PCR plastic, which reduces carbon emissions by 21% in the manufacturing process. The laptop’s screen bezel is made of 30% PCR plastic, and its keycaps are made of 50% PCR plastic, further lowering the computer’s footprint. Looking ahead to the conclusion of the laptop’s life cycle, considerable attention has been made to making repairs and upgrades as simple as possible. With eleven conventional Phillips-head screws, the bottom cover is removed, revealing a well-organized collection of internals that allows users to simply upgrade the RAM and SSD.

The laptop’s smaller environmental footprint does not imply it’s weak on performance: it comfortably allows users to create, communicate, and collaborate thanks to an 11th Gen Intel® CoreTM processor with Intel® Iris® Xe graphics. Users may start using Windows 11 right away, and Wi-Fi 6 provides ultra-reliable connectivity. A substantial range of connections, including USB Type-C and two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, one of which can be used to charge mobile devices even while the computer is turned off, complete out the user experience.

Acer Earthion

Earthion, an Acer platform that brings together the company’s strengths, supply chain partners, consumers, and employees to help tackle environmental concerns with innovative solutions, gave birth to the Vero product line. Acer’s RE100 promise to use 100 percent renewable energy by 2035, the pursuit of greener product design, and attempts to lower Acer’s supply chain’s carbon impact are among Earthion’s key priority areas.
