The event, taking place at ZU’s NextGen Center in Dubai from February 21st to 22nd, focuses on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Sustainability, aiming to equip students with essential skills while addressing global challenges. This hackathon will engage students from ZU, the American University of Sharjah, Khalifa University, and the University of Dubai to collaborate on innovative solutions for the future.

Participants will explore cutting-edge technologies such as AI, machine learning, blockchain, big data, and augmented reality (AR) through workshops and mentorship sessions. They will tackle challenges designed by key partners like the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, DEWA, and First Abu Dhabi Bank. These challenges focus on sustainable solutions and align with the UAE Centennial 2071 vision to develop future-ready professionals.

Saeed Al Gergawi, Vice President of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, stressed the importance of fostering young Emirati talent to support Dubai’s vision of becoming a global digital hub. Saeed Al Mansoori, Director of Remote Sensing at Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, emphasized how remote sensing technologies could contribute to solving environmental issues, further highlighting the event’s focus on sustainability.

Dr. Fatma Taher, Director of the NextGen Center, expressed her excitement about the growing student participation, emphasizing the event’s role in shaping a future driven by innovation and sustainability. This initiative is part of ZU’s broader contribution to Innovation Month, which includes over 50 events designed to inspire creativity and prepare students for the future. Through this hackathon, Zayed University continues to foster a culture of innovation, preparing students to lead in a rapidly changing world.

The hackathon also provides students with the opportunity to network with industry leaders, further enhancing their professional development and career prospects. By engaging with experts across various fields, participants will not only expand their knowledge but also gain invaluable insights into the challenges and opportunities that come with digital transformation and sustainability. This exposure is a key component in helping students bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute meaningfully to the evolving digital economy.
