Alibaba maintains third place in the public cloud IaaS market

Alibaba maintained its position as the third-largest public cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) service provider globally in 2021, according to the latest Worldwide Semiannual Public Cloud Services Tracker published by market research and advisory firm International Data Corporation (IDC).

Alibaba has been ranked third for the fourth year in a row, with a 7.4% market share. According to the IDC Tracker, the company is also the only one in the top five with an Asian headquarters.

According to IDC, the global cloud computing IaaS market is expected to reach USD91.3 billion in 2021, representing a 35.6% increase year on year. The top three cloud computing IaaS vendors accounted for nearly 70% of the global market share.

The results validate Alibaba’s global strategy of expanding its global presence by improving its global infrastructure and network. Alibaba Cloud, Alibaba Group’s digital technology and intelligence backbone, currently has 84 availability zones in 27 regions, serving millions of customers globally.
