The Khalifa Empowerment Programme (Aqdar) and its partners are celebrating Safer Internet Day 2024 with a range of activities.
These activities aim to raise awareness and promote digital safety under the theme “Be Safe Digitally” across the UAE.
The initiative was officially announced during a press conference in collaboration with Emirates News Agency (WAM) at their headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
The event brings together a wide range of representatives from key public and private sector organizations to emphasize the importance of digital safety.

Key participants include the Ministry of Education, Cyber Security Council, Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, and other prominent bodies.
These organizations play a crucial role in organizing and sponsoring the diverse set of activities planned for the event.
Scheduled annually for February, the event features virtual sessions, interactive workshops, cultural competitions, and engaging media awareness campaigns.
These initiatives are disseminated through partners’ platforms, local media channels, and a unified social media hashtag to increase participation and awareness.

Dr. Ibrahim Al Dabal, Director of the Khalifa Empowerment Programme, highlighted the long-term significance of these initiatives in fostering positive digital citizenship.
He emphasized the importance of creating a secure digital environment in alignment with the UAE government’s vision for enhancing technical services.
The initiative encourages a culture of responsible digital usage, which is vital in today’s fast-evolving technological landscape.

Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Chairman of the Cyber Security Council, underscored the necessity of educating youth and children about safe internet practices.
He stressed that equipping the younger generation with digital literacy is key to ensuring long-term cybersecurity across the nation.
Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi, Director General of WAM, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote safe digital technology usage.
He pointed out that responsible media plays an essential role in educating the public on the importance of digital safety.

Noura Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the General Women’s Union, expressed her pride in participating in Safer Internet Day 2024.
She noted the union’s ongoing efforts to improve the digital quality of life for all citizens, with a focus on women and children.
Her participation aligns with the union’s mission to empower women digitally and ensure safer online spaces for all.
