Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament, has stressed the urgent need to localize the artificial intelligence (AI) industry across Arab nations. He called for strategic planning and the allocation of financial and human resources to keep pace with the global AI race while ensuring ethical and culturally aligned applications.
Al Yamahi made these remarks during his keynote address at the opening of the Arab Dialogue Circle on “Artificial Intelligence in the Arab World: Innovative Applications and Ethical Challenges.” The event, held at the General Secretariat of the Arab League, is organized by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Arab League. The session gathered key diplomatic, academic, and industry experts.
Highlighting the role of AI in shaping the future, Al Yamahi underscored the importance of a strong public-private-academic partnership to develop an innovative and sustainable AI ecosystem. He also emphasized the necessity of a robust legal and legislative framework to balance technological advancement with ethical responsibility.
