Under the patronage of His Excellency Rayan Salah Al-Din Al-Bakri, Deputy Minister for Logistics Services at Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services, Aramex, a global logistics and transportation solutions company, has launched an innovative automated robotic system at Jeddah Islamic Port. This significant milestone in Aramex’s digital transformation is set to enhance logistics operations and align with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
The state-of-the-art facility highlights Aramex’s commitment to technological innovation and operational excellence. Its centerpiece is an advanced automated sorting system, featuring three feeding lines integrated with 120 robotic guided vehicles. This system can process 4,000 shipments per hour and 96,000 shipments daily, significantly improving logistics efficiency.
Abdulaziz Alnowaiser, General Manager of Aramex, emphasized the facility’s role in transforming logistics operations in the region. He said, “This automated facility represents a quantum leap in logistics efficiency and supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. By integrating robotics, AI, and temperature-controlled environments, we are building the future of logistics. Our shipment handling capacity will reach 100%, and we’re also set to launch drone deliveries by February 2025.”
Samer Marei, Vice President of GCC at Aramex, expressed the company’s continued dedication to Saudi Arabia, saying, “We are deeply committed to Saudi Arabia as our primary market. Our investments align with Vision 2030, contributing to the Kingdom’s ambition to become a global logistics hub.”
In addition to the automated facility, Aramex unveiled plans for its first drone delivery project. The initiative will complement the robotic sorting system and focus on enhancing last-mile delivery efficiency while reducing carbon emissions in urban and remote areas.
Strategically located at Jeddah Islamic Port, Aramex’s new facility, with its advanced technology and sustainable practices, directly supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives for sector modernization and environmental sustainability. The facility’s success is expected to inspire similar advancements across the Kingdom’s logistics sector, playing a key role in transforming Saudi Arabia into a leading global trade hub.
