DEWA Celebrates Graduation of Fourth Cleantech Youth Programme Cohort

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) Sustainability and Innovation Centre recently celebrated the graduation of the fourth cohort in its Cleantech Youth Programme. The initiative, designed to enhance youth knowledge and skills in clean and renewable energy, entrepreneurship, and climate action strategies, welcomed 25 students from local and international universities. 

This program unites top students from diverse academic disciplines, providing them with a comprehensive educational experience that broadens their understanding of the clean energy sector. Participants in the fourth batch engaged in workshops, awareness sessions, and field trips focused on clean energy, disruptive technologies, and entrepreneurship. With around 165 applications received from over 30 universities globally, the programme continues to attract top talent. 

The programme supports DEWA’s mission to foster the next generation of innovators and experts, equipping them with the tools to tackle climate challenges and drive the energy transition. It aligns with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which aims to achieve 100% clean energy production capacity by 2050. DEWA is committed to nurturing the innovative ideas and perspectives of youth to ensure a sustainable future. 

The Sustainability and Innovation Centre’s initiatives are essential for honing the skills and knowledge of young people, encouraging them to innovate in the clean and renewable energy field. With the programme’s growing popularity among university students, both locally and internationally, it supports DEWA’s vision for sustainable solutions to future challenges. 

Since its inception, the programme has graduated 105 students across four cohorts, providing them with a range of training workshops, educational sessions, and field visits led by academics, specialists, and experts from universities, start-ups, and both local and global organizations. The programme targets university students and graduates aged 20 to 24 who are studying engineering or science at accredited UAE institutions.
