During Dubai AI Week, the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), in partnership with Google Cloud, announced an initiative to enhance the skills of Chief AI Officers (CAIOs) across government entities. The program aims to strengthen Dubai’s AI leadership and support the city’s broader AI strategy, as outlined in the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence.

This initiative follows the blueprint launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in April 2024. The blueprint highlights Dubai’s goal to integrate AI into government processes. The program builds on the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) initiative, which appointed CAIOs across government departments in 2023.

Through this collaboration, CAIOs will gain access to Google Cloud’s advanced AI tools and training. The goal is to equip AI leaders with the skills needed to drive innovation, scale AI projects, and deliver tangible results for the public sector.

H.E. Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of DFF, emphasized Dubai’s global leadership in AI adoption:
“Dubai is setting the standard with Chief AI Officers in government. This initiative supports these leaders as they remain ahead in one of the fastest-growing fields.”

Ziad Jammal, General Manager of Google Cloud UAE, stated, “This upskilling program is crucial for enhancing government capabilities and reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global AI hub. It will accelerate AI adoption and have a significant impact across sectors.”

This strategic initiative also aims to position Dubai among the top 10 cities in the Global Government AI Readiness Index. It ensures that government leaders are equipped to responsibly scale AI and create meaningful societal value.
