His Excellency Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Managing Director of Dubai Future Foundation, announced that the pace of technological change is unlocking major opportunities for future-focused economic sectors.

He said governments must be ready to apply emerging technologies and turn global shifts into societal value. He emphasized that readiness for future technologies is now a key benchmark for both public and private sectors.

His remarks were made during the launch of the Top 10 Emerging Technologies of 2025 report. The report was issued by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with Dubai Future Foundation.

Al Gergawi noted that the report offers valuable foresight for governments, businesses, and entrepreneurs. It highlights the most impactful scientific and technological breakthroughs expected to scale in the near future.

The technologies were selected for their novelty, scalability, and potential societal impact. The report also includes a foresight angle for the first time, co-developed with Dubai Future Foundation.

Dubai Future Foundation contributed regional insights and long-term impact assessments. The organization helped analyze how these technologies can be applied to real-world challenges.

The report features breakthroughs in several key areas:

  • Green nitrogen fixation using renewable electricity
  • GLP-1 receptor agonists for neurodegenerative diseases
  • Osmotic power systems for clean energy
  • Collaborative sensing in smart infrastructure
  • Nanozymes that mimic enzyme activity
  • Autonomous biochemical sensing
  • Advanced nuclear technologies like SMRs
  • Generative watermarking to authenticate AI content
  • Engineered living therapeutics
  • Structural battery composites for energy storage

Over 300 experts from the Global Future Council network participated in developing the report. It was originally launched by the World Economic Forum in 2011 in collaboration with Frontiers, a leading open-access science publisher.

This marks the first time a regional entity Dubai Future Foundation has contributed to the annual report.
