Dubai government celebrates innovation and digitization by JAGGAER/Tejari

The inaugural Tejari Procurement Excellence Awards honored Dubai’s government’s innovation and digitalization, with the government being lauded for its breakthroughs in new technologies and transformation of procurement’s function and influence.

Various government agencies were recognised for their work as part of their digital procurement transformation journey during the award ceremony, which took place at the Address Sky View. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai was named a winner for being the first government body to successfully connect with the UAE Pass for electronic contract signing.

Other winners were the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprise Development for the best innovative automation project for their entrepreneur ecosystem, and Dubai Airports for the best procurement innovative solution for bids in the ‘Procurement Pioneer’ category. The Visionary Spotlight Award was given to Dubai Future Foundation for its remarkable contribution to the advancement of digital procurement.

Dr. Reem Abdulaziz, Deputy Director of Contracts & Procurement Department, General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, spoke about the entity’s digital transformation journey across key areas of their business, from sourcing optimization to supplier management, transforming the way they do procurement, during a keynote speech.

Abdulaziz praised the state-of-the-art system for enabling the best technical solutions in procurement, contracting, and streamlining work procedures during his speech. As a result, it highlighted the elimination of paper from tender processes, which drastically decreased the time it took to complete procedures and freed up resources to focus on other departmental mission-critical tasks.

Aside from winning the Dubai Future Foundation award, the government body also signed an MoU with JAGGAER/Tejari further strengthening their existing collaboration. JAGGAER’s eProcurement capabilities, an online catalogue-based shopping experience for goods and services that enables end-users to order to facilitate project requirements, will be implemented within the new framework.
