e& UAE has announced the launch of autonomous drones for cell tower inspections, powered by artificial intelligence (AI). This move marks a major step in modernizing telecom infrastructure across the UAE.

The new system combines AI, real-time data analytics, and autonomous flight. It enables faster, safer, and more sustainable inspections. Each drone operates remotely, with flights monitored in real time from the Drones Operations Centre.

This centre was launched in partnership with the UAE Cyber Security Council and the General Civil Aviation Authority. It supports drone integration into the national digital ecosystem while ensuring safety and compliance.

Unlike traditional inspection methods, autonomous drones navigate complex environments on their own. This improves worker safety and reduces downtime. Drones can also support emergency response efforts by providing access to hard-to-reach areas.

AI plays a key role by detecting structural issues instantly. This allows for predictive maintenance and helps prevent disruptions. The system also enhances network security by supporting remote inspections and identifying unauthorized activity.

All data collected is integrated into e& UAE’s infrastructure systems. This supports better asset management and reduces the carbon footprint. It also helps make faster, data-driven decisions.

According to Marwan Bin Shakar, Acting Chief Technology & Information Officer at e& UAE, the integration of autonomous drones reflects the company’s commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability.

The project also strengthens national efforts to develop unmanned traffic systems using 5G for real-time drone tracking and control. As the UAE advances its digital goals, this initiative highlights the impact of innovation on operations, safety, and the environment.
