Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and AXIAN Telecom have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on digitally upskilling young people across Africa. The partnership will leverage the Ericsson Educate program, part of Ericsson’s Connect to Learn initiative, to provide quality educational content and foster essential digital skills for the future workforce. This collaboration aims to enhance digital inclusion and empower the next generation with the tools needed to thrive in today’s digital economy.
The Ericsson Educate platform offers students a wide range of learning opportunities in cutting-edge fields such as 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT), automation, cloud computing, and telecommunications. By completing these courses, students gain in-demand skills and earn digital credential badges, showcasing their achievements in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
AXIAN Telecom, dedicated to youth empowerment, will play a pivotal role in this partnership by focusing on training university students across Africa. This collaboration aligns with the ongoing initiatives of AXIAN Telecom at universities and strengthens the reach of Ericsson Educate programs. Together, both companies aim to equip young adults with the skills required for success in a technology-driven world.
Ericsson’s global expertise in technology ensures access to the most up-to-date training content, guaranteeing quality education for African youth. This partnership will involve collaboration with local partners in each country to tailor strategies to the specific needs of the communities, ensuring the initiative’s sustainability and relevance.
Earlier this year, during AXIAN Telecom’s visit to the Ericsson Imagine Studio in Kista, Sweden, the leadership teams of both companies reaffirmed their shared vision to drive digital inclusion through education. This collaboration builds on previous successes, such as the Connect to Learn initiative with AXIAN Telecom’s subsidiary, Yas Sénégal, which established a digital educational ecosystem in Senegalese schools.
Hassan Jaber, CEO of AXIAN Telecom, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating that combining AXIAN Telecom’s deep understanding of local communities with Ericsson’s advanced educational platforms will empower students to navigate and lead in the digital age. He emphasized the initiative’s alignment with the recently launched Yas brand, which represents optimism and opportunity for Africa’s youth.
Majda Lahlou Kassi, Vice President and Head of Ericsson West Africa & Morocco, expressed pride in partnering with AXIAN Telecom. She emphasized the importance of empowering students with digital skills to unlock their potential and contribute to Africa’s socioeconomic growth.
This MoU reflects both companies’ commitment to advancing education, promoting digital inclusion, and empowering Africa’s youth to excel in the global digital economy.
