flydubai has announced a new partnership with emaratech to enhance its border control processes. This collaboration aims to implement smart border control solutions for its pilots and cabin crew.

The new smart gates are located at the airline’s Airport Operations Centre. These gates use biometric technology, AI-driven verification, and real-time data integration. As a result, immigration procedures are faster and more efficient.

According to the airline, this move supports its ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency, especially during peak travel periods.

His Excellency Thani Alzaffin, Group CEO of emaratech, revealed that the project delivers a next-generation, paperless immigration experience for flydubai crew members. He noted that the smart gates integrate AI-powered facial recognition and connect with both flydubai’s and immigration’s platforms. This enables real-time validation and a frictionless journey.

Alzaffin added that the initiative reflects emaratech’s vision to make border control smarter, faster, and more secure. He emphasized the role of artificial intelligence in building future-ready, trustworthy systems at every checkpoint. He also expressed interest in further collaborations with flydubai to enhance travel for passengers and crew.

Mohammed Hareb AlMheiri, Chief Procurement & Technology Officer at flydubai, reported that the airline is proud to introduce this solution. He stated that the airline constantly seeks innovative technologies to improve its operations. The new biometric smart gates mark a step forward in building a seamless, punctual, and secure system.

Currently, six smart gates have been installed at the crew reporting area in the Airport Operations Centre.

flydubai continues to invest in technologies that improve daily operations for frontline staff. The airline serves over 135 destinations with a fleet of 89 aircraft. It has a workforce of more than 6,400 employees, including over 1,300 pilots and 2,500 cabin crew.
