Huawei, in partnership with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies, concluded the Seeds for the Future 2024 regional finals in Tashkent. The event, held in Tashkent, focused on celebrating the region’s exceptional young talent in information and communication technologies (ICT). It brought together some of the brightest university students from 14 countries in the Middle East and Central Asia. This regional event aimed to promote digital innovation, collaboration, and the development of future ICT leaders for the global economy.

The Seeds for the Future program provided a platform for young innovators to showcase their skills in a competitive environment. In this year’s competition, teams from Kuwait and the UAE clinched the top positions, securing a place in the global Tech4Good competition.

The team from Kuwait, Future Gadget Lab, introduced a groundbreaking healthcare solution aimed at assisting stroke recovery through innovative digital technologies. Similarly, the Beyond Limits team from the UAE impressed the judges with their smart healthcare project, targeting stroke patient rehabilitation and recovery. Both teams were praised for their high level of creativity, practical application of emerging technologies, and focus on healthcare improvements.

Teams from Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Bahrain also stood out for their impressive technological contributions and received special recognition. These teams demonstrated a deep understanding of how technology can address local issues, making significant strides in social impact projects. The recognition of Kazakhstan and Bahrain representatives as Mentors’ Favorites showed the value of mentorship in shaping innovative projects.

The regional finals also commemorated the 10th anniversary of Huawei’s Seeds for the Future program in Uzbekistan, marking a decade of success. This milestone highlighted Huawei’s deep-rooted commitment to digital transformation, ICT development, and youth empowerment in Uzbekistan and the surrounding region. Huawei’s 25-year presence in Uzbekistan was also celebrated during the event, emphasizing the company’s role in advancing the nation’s digital ecosystem. More than 150 students participated in the event, benefiting from intensive workshops and training sessions on advanced ICT topics.

The participants gained hands-on experience in cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Rustam Karimjonov, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies, also addressed the participants, emphasizing the value of ICT in national growth. The Seeds for the Future program, launched globally in 2008, has reached over 18,000 students from 141 countries worldwide. The program’s impact can be seen through its continued success in fostering collaboration, innovation, and leadership across borders.
