Huawei demonstrated its unwavering dedication to ensuring a secure cyberspace at the 6th edition of the Cybersecurity Innovation Series and Awards 2023. Held in collaboration with the UAE Cybersecurity Council and with the support of the Dubai Electronic Security Center, the event brought together renowned cybersecurity experts, industry leaders, policymakers, and academics from around the world.
Themed “Securing the Digital Frontier: Exploring Next Generation Cybersecurity for the Digital Age,” the two-day series featured carefully curated topics presented by global cybersecurity leaders, stimulating interactive panel discussions, and informative keynotes. Huawei’s regional and global experts actively participated in these discussions, sharing insights on critical security issues and presenting innovative solutions.
One of the highlights was Song Haibin, Chief Security Officer at Huawei Cloud Europe, who addressed the challenges and measures required to redefine Cloud Security Governance in the Digital Era. He introduced the concept of the 3Cs (Cloud Service, Cybersecurity & Compliance Standard) as a Unified Compliance tool. Dr. Aloysius Cheang, Chief Security Officer of Huawei Middle East & Central Asia, delivered a keynote speech titled “Cybersecurity Playbook in the Digital Era,” unveiling a roadmap to safeguard customers’ journey to the cyberverse.
During the event, Huawei’s experts also delved into topics such as the escalating frequency and complexity of cyberattacks targeting cloud assets and the intricacies of responding to ransomware attacks, including communication, decision-making, and stakeholder management.
Jiawei Liu, CEO of Huawei UAE, emphasized the significance of cybersecurity as a business enabler and how it can drive growth by inspiring customer trust and confidence. He reaffirmed Huawei’s commitment to making cybersecurity and privacy protection top priorities, highlighting the company’s collaborative approach with governments, customers, and partners to address the challenges of cybersecurity effectively.
As part of the event, the UAE Cybersecurity Council, in association with OIC-CERT and Huawei, released the “Future of Cloud Security in the Middle East” report. Notably, the report highlighted that cloud and cybersecurity professionals and decision-makers in the region consider cybersecurity as the primary concern when selecting a cloud provider.
The event also featured an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge cybersecurity innovations. Visitors had the opportunity to explore Huawei’s cybersecurity solutions, including the Ransomware Protection Solution and the company’s Cloud Security and Compliance tool.
Recognizing Huawei’s significant contributions to the field, the Cybersecurity Innovation Summit and Awards 2023 UAE Chapter honored the company with multiple awards. Huawei received the prestigious Best Cloud Security Technology Partners of the Year award for its continuous investment in cybersecurity, cloud security capabilities, compliance, and ecosystem development. The company’s commitment to speeding up the development of cloud security technologies, enhancing product security, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a healthy ecosystem has earned the trust and confidence of its customers and partners.
Furthermore, Huawei was bestowed with the Cybersecurity Ransomware Technology Leadership Award for its pioneering multilayer ransomware protection solution. The solution’s core capabilities, such as network-storage collaborative detection, response, and recovery, provide a comprehensive security system with two lines of defense and six layers of in-depth protection.

As part of this commitment, Huawei became the first global ICT player to join the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT), a renowned international cybersecurity platform and the world’s third-largest national CERT organization. The company actively participates in telecom cybersecurity standardization activities led by GSMA, ITU-T, 3GPP, and
IETF. In 2022 alone, Huawei submitted nearly 300 cybersecurity standards proposals to 3GPP and GSMA while partnering with leading security companies to ensure the cybersecurity of its customers and promote the healthy development of industries.
