Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has unveiled “ITIDA Gigs,” a groundbreaking initiative aimed at equipping young Egyptians with the necessary freelancing skills to excel in the digital economy. The program, targeting 20,000 university students and fresh graduates, seeks to provide participants with the tools and training to succeed in the competitive freelance market.

In collaboration with EYouth, an Egyptian EdTech startup, the initiative will cater to individuals aged 18 and above, with a basic understanding of IT-related fields such as web development, data science, AI, digital marketing, and cybersecurity. Although prior freelancing experience is not mandatory, a familiarity with these areas is preferred.

Ahmed El-Zaher, CEO of ITIDA, emphasized the strategic importance of the initiative in fostering Egypt’s freelance market and bolstering the national economy. He stated, “Freelancing has become a global priority, and ITIDA Gigs will empower Egyptian youth with competitive skills to secure sustainable freelance opportunities, supporting the growth of Egypt’s digital economy.”

The 15-month program offers expert-led training in key areas such as freelancing fundamentals, marketing strategies, professional branding, negotiation, and project management. With 20 training cohorts across Egypt, each hosting 1,000 participants, the initiative is designed to bridge the gap between education and the freelance job market.

Participants will have access to AI-powered tools, expert guidance, and weekly interactive webinars, ensuring continuous learning and improvement. Upon completion, they will earn accredited certifications, positioning them to enter the thriving freelance marketplace.

EYouth, awarded the tender to implement the program, brings its extensive experience in training over 3 million learners across the Middle East and Africa. Mustafa Abd El-Latif, CEO of EYouth, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are excited to collaborate with ITIDA on this initiative to position Egypt as a global leader in competitive freelance talent.”

ITIDA Gigs aims to enhance efficiency, open doors to regional and global opportunities, and create a dynamic community for professional networking and knowledge-sharing, all while contributing to the growth of Egypt’s digital economy.
