Khalifa University of Science and Technology, in collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU), has introduced a pioneering dual Master of Science programme, marking the first of its kind in the UAE. The programme aims to embed entrepreneurship and innovation within higher education, equipping students with a unique skill set for global business success.
Through this partnership, students will earn two degrees: a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from ASU, delivered by the W. P. Carey School of Business and the Herberger Institute of Design and Arts, and a Master of Science in Engineering Systems and Management, specialising in Technology Management, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship from Khalifa University.
The Khalifa University-ASU collaboration will be supported by Khalifa University Enterprises Company (KUEC) and the Khalifa Innovation Center (KIC), both of which focus on the commercialisation of scientific research and entrepreneurial ventures. These entities will assist students interested in launching startups after completing the dual degree.
Dr. Bayan Sharif, Provost of Khalifa University, expressed enthusiasm about the programme, stating, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Arizona State University on this unique dual Master’s programme. It will provide our students with an immersive academic and international experience, culminating in a pitching competition to investors. This initiative aligns with our mission to foster entrepreneurship and innovation, contributing to the UAE’s vision of a knowledge-based economy.”
Hitendra Chaturvedi, co-director of the MS in Entrepreneurship and Innovation programme at ASU’s W. P. Carey School of Business, noted, “ASU has been ranked No. 1 in innovation for 10 consecutive years. This partnership with Khalifa University enables us to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset that is crucial for leaders of the future.”
The programme will facilitate networking opportunities between Khalifa University faculty, students, KUEC, KIC, and ASU, with a focus on investor pitching, entrepreneurial skills, and corporate innovation. Students will spend part of their studies at ASU before returning to Khalifa University, where faculty from both institutions will mentor them through their projects.
This dual-degree initiative is set to shape the next generation of entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, and leaders in the global innovation landscape.
