Hesham Tantawi, vice president for MENA at ASBIS Middle East, talks about the company’s strategic priorities and regional strengths.

How has the year 2022 treated ASBIS thus far?

Despite the slower market growth overall, ASBIS is doing well in 2022, particularly in terms of growth in the core products.

What we had envisioned over the previous five years has already been accomplished. The robust cooperation that we sought is finally bearing fruit. Along with adding consumer-centric items and focusing on a particular group of clients, we also intend to launch new distribution business segments.

We recently introduced a consumer-focused section to ASBIS’ earlier portfolio in addition to the core business verticals (volume, value-added, and commercial services).

Through our value vertical, ASBIS aims to assist businesses in advancing cutting-edge technologies like data analytics, cyber security, and AI. When firms set themselves up with the newest technology, it gives them a competitive advantage. To make it happen, we eagerly collaborate with system integrators and solution providers. Among the top companies, we recommend to clients from the value-added divisions are Logitech and Supermicro.

Additionally, ASBIS positions itself as our clients’ one-stop shop for all organizational needs.

With security being a major concern for many organizations these days, what is ASBIS doing in this space?

When it comes to security, we sell cutting-edge security cameras that assist companies in data analysis, action plan creation, customer behavior analysis, and other tasks. Retail, building management, agriculture, and other industries can benefit from these solutions.

Give us some highlights of your Gitex presence this year.

At GITEX, we represent our entire portfolio, including Logitech – Intel and AMD in components, -Western Digital, Seagate, Toshiba, Kingston, Transcend, QNAP, Synology, Dahua, Solidigm, Infortrend, and Infinidat in storage. TP-Link, Ubiquiti, Grandstream, Mimosa, Yealink, and Mikrotik in networking – Supermicro, NVIDIA, and Gigabyte in server – luxury brands such as Bang & Olufsen and Loewe with our private brands such as Prestigio, Canyon, Lorgar, Aeno, and Perenio, as well as other brands such as AOC, ECS, Lexmark, and video analytics vendors Despite ASBIS’ policy of not attending the event, we are planning a client outreach and meeting program for the near future.

What will be the company’s key strategy for the year 2023?

Our main plan of action is to maintain a strong relationship with our partners. That’s the mindset we’ve had from the start, and we’ll continue to incorporate additional businesses while providing top-notch support for the ones we already have.

Micro, medium, and large businesses are the emphasis of ASBIS. Additionally, we are open to cooperating with anyone because we think that everyone contributes something valuable to the supply chain.

A $3.7 billion profit was made by ASBIS. We anticipate growth of $7.97 billion, or bottom-line profitability, and we’re driven to grow even farther.

ASBIS used to generate 22% of its annual income from Eastern Europe and Russia. However, given the ongoing geopolitical concerns, the firm is now not running there. ASBIS is attempting to make up the difference by bringing in an additional 2-3% in foreign earnings.
