Microsoft announced Tareq Hijazi as the Public Sector Director for Microsoft UAE. He was a former director in the company’s Consulting Services division.
Hijazi has been at Microsoft for 20 years, starting as a Technology Specialist in 2001. In 2006, he moved to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to oversee Microsoft Gulf’s Enterprise Account Team Unit. Tareq was appointed Country Manager for Bahrain and Oman in late 2010, then returned to Dubai in 2014 to oversee Microsoft Gulf’s Small and Mid-Market Solutions and Partners group. Tareq has led Microsoft’s Services division for the GCC and later the UAE since 2018, guiding the company and its clients to great outcomes over a difficult three-year period.
Commenting on his new position, Hijazi stated, “Microsoft has always been a staunch ally to the UAE government in its pursuit of economic diversification and the building of a sustainable and inclusive future for its citizens and residents. I look forward to continuing to build on that success, as we enable public sector organizations to build capacities to compete in the global digital economy.”
