The report explores AI’s transformative potential in 2025 and provides strategies for businesses to maximize its benefits while addressing the complexities of data management, security, and sustainability.

AI Scaling and Data Challenges in 2025
According to the report, 2025 will mark a turning point as organizations shift from AI experimentation to large-scale implementation. “This year’s Data Complexity Report highlights the significant investments businesses are making to drive AI-driven innovation,” said Gabie Boko, Chief Marketing Officer at NetApp. “However, success will require tackling mounting challenges in data complexity, security, and sustainability. Unified, intelligent data infrastructure is key to unlocking AI’s potential.”

Investment in AI and Data Management
While two-thirds of global companies report their data is optimized for AI, 40% of technology executives anticipate unprecedented investments will be required to meet future demands. The report emphasizes the need for greater commitment to data unification and infrastructure, as these are critical for enabling AI breakthroughs.

Security Risks Rising with AI Growth
AI adoption is increasing security concerns, with 41% of executives predicting a rise in threats by 2025. Countries leading in AI, such as the U.S., India, and Japan, are experiencing heightened security challenges. Despite these risks, strategic investments in cybersecurity are showing progress, with a 17% reduction in prioritization since 2023, signaling improved resilience.

Sustainability Concerns in an AI-Driven World
The report also highlights the environmental implications of AI adoption. As AI drives exponential data growth, 34% of tech executives foresee significant changes in corporate sustainability strategies. Reducing the carbon footprint of AI operations remains a priority, though focus on sustainability has declined year-over-year.

Unified Data Infrastructure as a Competitive Advantage
NetApp emphasizes the importance of unified data strategies to meet the demands of AI. Organizations prioritizing intelligent data infrastructure are better positioned to navigate the complexities of AI adoption while ensuring innovation, security, and sustainability.

“AI’s future lies in secure, scalable, and sustainable data strategies,” said Krish Vitaldevara, Senior Vice President at NetApp. “Businesses that invest in these areas will not only drive innovation but also maintain a competitive edge in an increasingly AI-driven landscape.”
