The National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) is excited to announce its participation in Intersec Dubai 2025, the world’s largest event focused on the future of security, safety, and fire protection. Taking place from January 14-16, 2025, at the World Trade Center in Dubai, the event is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. NFPA will be featured prominently on Day 2 at the NFPA Theatre, which will host presentations and panel discussions from leading fire and life safety experts.
The Fire and Rescue Conference, hosted by NFPA in Hall 2 of the Dubai World Trade Center, will bring together key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors across the GCC region. The event will focus on critical topics such as life safety in residential buildings, fire safety in healthcare settings, and the integration of IoT in smart buildings. A major highlight will be a panel discussion on emergency preparedness and response, offering insights from industry leaders.
Lorraine Carli, NFPA’s Vice President of Outreach & Advocacy, will deliver a keynote presentation titled “From Tragedy to Triumph – What Grenfell Means for Leading in Fire, Life, and Electrical Safety.” Carli will discuss the lessons learned from the tragic Grenfell Tower fire and how fire and safety experts can apply these lessons to improve practices, particularly in high-rise buildings.
“The lessons from Grenfell continue to resonate globally,” Carli said. “We must transform tragedy into actionable solutions to foster a culture of safety and protect lives and property.”
Olga Caledonia, NFPA’s Director of Global Business Development, will moderate the keynote panel, emphasizing the collective role in strengthening fire and life safety systems. “It is essential that we reflect on our individual and collective responsibilities to advocate for stronger regulations, updated codes, and support community fire safety initiatives,” she added.
NFPA is dedicated to showcasing the impact of emerging technologies—such as AI, IoT, automation, AR, and VR—in enhancing fire safety practices. Dana Kamal, NFPA’s Director of International Development for MENA, highlighted the association’s commitment to knowledge-sharing and innovation: “We aim to drive progress in collaboration with regional partners, ultimately enhancing safety and saving lives,” she said.
The event will also feature sessions from key organizations such as Dubai Civil Defense, Abu Dhabi Civil Defense, Saudi Aramco, and Dubai Holding Group, with discussions on AI’s role in fire safety and the importance of code compliance.
NFPA’s involvement in Intersec Dubai 2025 reinforces its ongoing mission to advance fire and life safety globally. The association is eager to contribute to a productive event that drives collaboration and progress within the fire, life, and electrical safety sectors.
