H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence, met today with Joseph C. Tsai, Co-founder and Chairman of Alibaba Group, on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit 2025.
During the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan emphasized Dubai’s commitment to fostering collaborations with global technology-driven enterprises shaping the future of digital economies. He highlighted Dubai’s advanced digital infrastructure, progressive policies, and its growing reputation as a global trade and innovation hub, making it an attractive destination for international technology and e-commerce firms. Strengthening ties with industry leaders like Alibaba aligns with Dubai’s vision to be at the forefront of the digital economy and supports the Dubai Economic Agenda D33’s goal of generating AED 100 billion annually from digital transformation projects.
Discussions covered the evolving landscape of digital commerce, AI-driven advancements in retail, and emerging financial technologies, along with the role of smart logistics in accelerating business growth. Both parties shared insights on leveraging advanced technologies to enhance trade, economic resilience, and sustainable growth.
The meeting was attended by key UAE officials, including Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; and Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Joseph Tsai also participated in a fireside chat at the summit, discussing the future of artificial intelligence and its transformative role in driving economic growth.
