The United Arab Emirates has solidified its position as a global cybersecurity leader, securing a top ranking in the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index. The nation’s commitment to digital security and innovation has been recognized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which placed the UAE in the prestigious “Pioneering Model” category.

Representing the UAE, the Cybersecurity Council successfully met all 80 criteria of the index, achieving a perfect score of 100%. This remarkable achievement underscores the nation’s dedication to building a robust and secure digital infrastructure that supports its ambitious future goals.

Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of the Cybersecurity Council, expressed his pride in the UAE’s accomplishment, attributing it to the visionary leadership of the nation and its forward-thinking policies in digital transformation. He emphasized that this global recognition reflects the significant strides made in cybersecurity and strengthens the UAE’s position as a regional and global hub for innovation and technology.

The Cybersecurity Council’s integrated approach, focusing on enhancing national governance, building capacities, and fostering international cooperation, has played a crucial role in achieving this milestone. By working collaboratively with both public and private sector teams, the UAE has demonstrated its commitment to ensuring a secure and resilient digital ecosystem.

The Global Cybersecurity Index is a comprehensive assessment that evaluates the cybersecurity maturity of United Nations member states across five key areas: legal measures, regulatory measures, cooperation measures, capacity-building measures, and technical measures. The UAE’s top ranking is a testament to its excellence in all these areas.
