UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed passes away

Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, said the Ministry of Presidential Affairs.

He was also the ruler of the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The Ministry of Presidential Affairs expressed condolences to the UAE people, Arab and Islamic nations, and the rest of the world on the death of the President, wishing Allah Almighty eternal peace and the UAE people patience and solace.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has been the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi since November 3, 2004.

He was elected to succeed his father, the late His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who was the UAE’s first president from the country’s inception in 1971 until his death on November 2, 2004.

Born in 1948, Sheikh Khalifa was the eldest son of Sheikh Zayed and the second President of the UAE.

Under his leadership, the UAE has seen rapid development, ensuring a decent standard of living for its citizens.

The UAE will observe a 40-day mourning period beginning Friday, with flags flying at half-mast and all public and private sector entities suspending operations for three days, according to the ministry.
