The instant messaging service WhatsApp discontinues support for several phones every year, and this year is no exception. As 2022 draws to a close, WhatsApp is also discontinuing support for some iPhone and Android handsets.

However, the models from which the Meta-owned platform is taking out its support are old models that have obsolete operating systems. This merely indicates that the majority of smartphone users shouldn’t be concerned about WhatsApp’s support ceasing.

On December 31, 2022, the instant messaging service will stop supporting almost 49 handsets from manufacturers including Apple and Samsung, among many others. This means that particular models of phones will stop receiving updates from WhatsApp like new features and security patches and finally stop working after the specified date.
