Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)<\/a> has revealed that the city now has over 1,270 electric vehicle (EV) charging points across the emirate. The announcement was made by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These charging stations have been developed in collaboration with public and private sector partners. The initiative supports Dubai\u2019s broader goals to promote green mobility and reduce carbon emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Al Tayer confirmed that DEWA remains committed to advancing sustainable transport in line with national targets. By 2050, the UAE aims for electric and hybrid vehicles to make up 50% of all vehicles on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He added that DEWA launched the EV Green Charger initiative in 2014, the region\u2019s first public EV charging infrastructure network. The project aligns with the vision to position Dubai as a global leader in smart urban development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In support of this, DEWA continues to offer digital services for EV users and encourages private sector investment in green mobility. Recently, a comprehensive licensing system was introduced for developing and operating EV charging infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 Dubai recorded over 40,600 EVs by mid-2025 To further strengthen the network, DEWA has signed an agreement with Parkin. This will enable the installation of chargers at high-traffic locations managed by Parkin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n DEWA\u2019s EV Green Charger network includes ultra-fast, fast, public, and wall-box chargers. A new regulatory framework for EV charging has also been developed. It enables licensing for independent charge point operators and ensures alignment with future requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All customers, including unregistered users, can use charging services via a guest mode feature. Stations can be located using DEWA\u2019s smart app, official website, and 14 other digital platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Additionally, DEWA has launched the \u2018Dubai EV Community Hub\u2019 at www.dubaievhub.ae<\/a>, offering a central source of information on the city\u2019s EV ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
