The company revealed that the EOS C50 is the smallest camera in the Cinema EOS range to date, designed to fit into various filming setups, from fast-paced shoots to large-scale productions.

At the core of the EOS C50 is a 7K full-frame CMOS sensor paired with the advanced DIGIC DV 7 processor. This combination delivers high-quality video and stills, including internal RAW video recording at up to 7K 60P, high frame rates of 4K 120P and 2K 180P, and detailed 32MP photos. The camera is also the first in the Cinema EOS line to offer open gate recording, using the full sensor area for maximum resolution and creative flexibility.

The EOS C50 features Simultaneous Crop Recording, allowing videographers to capture full-angle images and cropped vertical or square versions simultaneously. This makes it ideal for social media and advertising content. When paired with anamorphic lenses, it provides a taller image with an immersive cinematic look.

As a hybrid camera, the EOS C50 combines advanced video and still capabilities. Its display adjusts automatically between Video and Photo modes, featuring Canon’s Cinema EOS interface for video and the EOS R menu system for photos. The camera supports Dual Pixel CMOS AF II for high-speed, accurate subject tracking, with eye-priority autofocus for humans and animals.

Designed for agility, the EOS C50 has a lightweight, modular body suitable for handheld or gimbal operation. Its detachable handle unit offers improved control, with two XLR audio terminals, control dials, a REC button, and a zoom rocker. The camera supports RF, EF, and PL lenses via optional adapters.

Connectivity options include MIC and Timecode terminals, HDMI OUT (Type-A), USB-C, dual CFexpress and SD card slots, and UVC/UAC livestreaming support. The camera is compatible with Canon’s RC-IP1000 Remote Controller and the Frame.io Camera to Cloud platform for real-time production-to-post workflows.

Canon also announced free firmware updates for existing Cinema EOS cameras later this year, including Open Gate RAW recording for the EOS C400 and enhanced playback features for the EOS C80.

Key features of the EOS C50:

7K 60p internal RAW video and 32MP stills

Open gate full-frame recording and 7K oversampling

Dual Base ISO support and 15+ stops dynamic range

Flexible formats including 12-bit Cinema RAW Light, Canon Log 2/3, XF-AVC S, and XF-HEVC S

Detachable handle, RF/EF/PL lens support, dual card slots, and professional connectivity

The Canon EOS C50 sets a new standard for compact cinema cameras, delivering high-quality performance for both video and still photography.

[9716,9661
1051
9732
post-101495","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-global-brands","category-tech-value-chain","tag-vendors","contributor-news-desk
["GET
