Shure announced the launch of its DCA901 Planar Array Microphone, aiming to redefine audio capture for broadcast in the region. Designed for sports, studio, and live event production, the DCA901 delivers front-row sound to viewers while reducing the number of microphones and cables required.

With digitally steerable lobes and onboard digital signal processing, engineers can isolate sources, minimize ambient noise, and maintain complete control over the mix. The DCA901 is the first product in Shure’s new Arqos portfolio, integrating array microphones, signal processing, and software for cleaner and more precise audio acquisition and remote management.

“The DCA901 can completely change workflows in any broadcast sport because it provides ultimate capture flexibility. Two arrays could cover the whole NBA floor, replacing twelve traditional mics,” said Dave Grundtvig, Senior Audio Supervisor, Remote Operations.

Available next year, the DCA901 streamlines traditional workflows with a high-fidelity solution. It supports 5.1 and stereo audio, enables real-time control with DSP features like automixing, EQ, compression, and delay, and reduces setup complexity with single-cable Dante or AES67 connections. Remote management allows engineers to adjust pickup zones without onsite presence, supporting REMI workflows and alternate feeds.

Shure has also partnered with EDGE Sound Research to integrate the DCA901 with the Virtual Sound Engine software. This combination allows audio engineers to follow player or ball movement dynamically, enhancing live sports storytelling and audience experience.

Key points:

[1582
1051
9732
post-101577","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-product-watch","tag-vendors","contributor-news-desk
