Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the fourth edition of the Dubai World Congress and Challenge for AI in Self-Driving Transport will commence on 24 September at the Dubai World Trade Centre<\/a>. The event is held under the slogan \u2018Redefining Mobility\u2026 The Path to Autonomy.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials announced that winners of the Challenge will be honoured during the event. The competition was organised under the theme \u2018Dubai Autonomous Transport Zone.\u2019 Five international and local consortia, along with leading companies, competed to design a model district integrating multiple modes of transport. The goal is to enable residents to select the best mobility option with high-quality service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai\u2019s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), welcomed delegates and expressed hope for a successful event. He reported that the Congress marks a milestone in Dubai\u2019s journey to lead the future of smart mobility and strengthen its global position as an innovation hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He revealed that the initiative is part of Dubai\u2019s Smart Self-Driving Transport Strategy, which aims to transform 25% of all journeys into self-driving trips by 2030. The Congress will attract global companies, universities, and research institutions to develop solutions that use AI in self-driving transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 3,000 participants are expected, with over 45 workshops and 80 speakers. Keynote speakers include:
\u2022 H.E. Saeed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA
\u2022 Sol Rashidi, the world\u2019s first Chief Artificial Intelligence<\/a> Officer
\u2022 Dr. Steven Shladover, an expert in self-driving technology<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition will feature more than 50 exhibitors, including Baidu Apollo, DEWA, Uber, Pony.ai, and others. Visitors will experience self-driving vehicles scheduled for deployment in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RTA reported that applications for the Challenge exceeded the target by 170%. The final stage includes five contestants: WeRide \/ Deutsche Bahn consortium, BrightDrive \/ AlpLab \/ Shiptec \/ SeaBubbles consortium, Orcauboat \/ PIKMOVING \/ Heriot-Watt University Dubai consortium, SURAA \/ Arti consortium, and Zelos Technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Field tests were conducted in the respective countries of the finalists. Winners will be announced on the opening day. The Challenge focuses on first-and-last mile connectivity, traffic congestion, and encouraging public transport adoption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
