TECHx Media caught up with Nat Pisupati, Regional Sales Director MEA at HID FARGO, during GITEX Global 2025, to discuss how HID is redefining secure identity through its evolving portfolio of integrated solutions. From card issuance to biometrics, HID continues to shape the future of secure access and digital transformation across sectors.

TECHx: Tell us a little about the solutions that HID is showcasing at GITEX and how they reflect your mission of redefining secure identity and active technologies.

Nat Pisupati: HID operates through several business units, including Access Control, Biometrics, and Secure Issuance, which is the area I’m responsible for, focusing mainly on card printing. Because we have such a broad portfolio, we’re able to collaborate across our business units to deliver complete, integrated solutions. For example, we can manage access control, handle secure printing, and integrate technologies like biometrics, RFID, and QR codes, all within one ecosystem. Our goal is to provide customers with a comprehensive, end-to-end solution that truly redefines secure identity and active technologies.

TECHx: Digital identity is becoming central to digital transformation strategies. How is HID making digital identity more secure and scalable?

Nat Pisupati: While much of our business has traditionally focused on physical IDs, we also provide digital identities through the cloud. From my experience in the U.S. and other regions, there’s a clear need for both. Governments still rely on physical IDs as official identification, but they are increasingly open to integrating digital IDs as part of their modernization efforts. For example, at airports, you might be able to use your digital ID for certain processes, even if it doesn’t yet serve as an official document.

TECHx: We are seeing a growing movement toward passwordless authentication. How is HID driving this shift, and what impact does it have on enterprise security and user experience?

Nat Pisupati: HID provides a wide range of solutions that enable passwordless authentication, allowing users to log in securely without traditional passwords. You can use biometrics or even tap your access control card on your laptop to unlock it. We offer both physical and logical access solutions, ensuring secure and seamless interactions across environments. My focus is primarily on hardware and physical access, while the software teams manage password-related functions. Together, we deliver complete and integrated solutions that enhance both security and convenience.

TECHx: Many organizations are transitioning to the cloud. How does HID’s platform help IT teams streamline operations while maintaining strong security standards?

Nat Pisupati: Cloud-based solutions mainly fall under the software side, but we do have products that leverage cloud capabilities. Operating in the cloud requires extreme caution due to potential security risks. Our new HID FARGO printers are built with strong encryption, PKI, and robust certificates to ensure data security. Of course, no system can be 100% secure, but we constantly strive to ensure that all data we handle is thoroughly protected.

TECHx: Smart city initiatives are growing rapidly across the Middle East. How is HID partnering with governments and enterprises to support these projects?

Nat Pisupati: Smart cities in the Middle East are expanding quickly, aiming to become self-sustained and deliver the best possible services digitally. One example of our contribution is through Self-Service Kiosk Systems, which enable citizens and residents to renew driving licences, replace ID cards, or access other official documents without visiting an office. It’s a small but significant way we’re helping governments enhance efficiency and citizen experience.

TECHx: How has GITEX been for you this year?

Nat Pisupati: This is my 25th GITEX, and it’s always a busy one, but this year feels even busier. I’ve also heard it might be moving to a new location next year, which I’m quite looking forward to.

[9715
1545
9732
post-102289","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-expert-opinion","tag-interview","contributor-news-desk
