At the 27th edition of Intersec, experts revealed how AI<\/a> safety is transforming workplace operations. The conference highlighted the shift of artificial intelligence from deep tech to frontline applications in safety-critical environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a session titled \u201cAI & Safety 4.0: Rethinking Human Risk,\u201d panellists discussed the role of AI in predictive analytics, risk identification, and early warning systems. They emphasised that AI should enhance human responsibility rather than replace accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Waddah S. Ghanem Al Hashmi, Chairman of the Federal Committee for OSH, reported that companies cannot outsource accountability to algorithms. \u201cWe delegate responsibility, but we do not delegate accountability,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speakers also cited real-world cases in refineries where AI-based predictive tools reduced manual inspections, raising concerns about over-reliance on technology and potential blind spots in safety systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Islam Adra, Vice President, HSE MENA & SCO at DP World<\/a>, revealed that trust remains a key challenge when integrating AI into the workplace. He noted that AI\u2019s reputation is often linked to surveillance and monitoring, which can create employee concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The panel, moderated by Isaac Ochulor, Senior QHSE Engineer and Digital Transformation Strategist at SMGT, encouraged boards and executives to embed AI into safety strategies rather than treating it as a standalone project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
