During those incidents, GitHub was rendered unavailable, ultimately prompting the decision to explore building a new product, according to the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the project remains in its early stages. It is unlikely to be completed for several months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Employees involved in the initiative have considered making the code repository available for purchase to OpenAI\u2019s existing customer base, the report said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reuters could not independently verify the information. OpenAI, GitHub and Microsoft did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/techxmedia.com\/en\/?s=OpenAI\">OpenAI<\/a>&nbsp;moves forward with selling the product, it would mark a direct challenge to Microsoft, which holds a significant stake in the artificial intelligence company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, OpenAI\u2019s latest funding round valued it at $840 billion.
