Corning Incorporated<\/a> (NYSE: GLW) announced a collaboration with US Conec to become a licensee of PRIZM\u00ae TMT optical ferrule technology. The move targets growing demand in the AI<\/a> data center segment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The PRIZM\u00ae TMT solution enables higher fiber counts in tighter spaces inside data centers. As a result, Corning expands its full spectrum of high-density optical connectivity solutions for next-generation AI networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAI infrastructure is pushing optical connectivity into new and more demanding environments,\u201d said Mike O\u2019Day, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Corning Optical Communications. He added that licensing PRIZM\u00ae TMT strengthens Corning\u2019s ability to deliver scalable, fiber-rich solutions. These solutions help customers build larger, faster, and more efficient AI clusters. Moreover, they align closely with the broader industry ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, AI infrastructure continues to scale with new generations of AI chips and larger cluster sizes. Consequently, data center operators must connect an increasing number of accelerators in scale-out networks. In addition, traditional short-reach copper links are gradually being replaced by optical solutions in scale-up networks. This shift is expected to drive optical connections into the thousands of fibers per server and switch rack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As this transition accelerates, fiber density inside server racks is rising significantly. Therefore, connector density, performance, and installation speed are becoming critical factors.
