It has achieved 70% of its target to collect 100,000 electronic devices in record time.

The campaign was launched in August 2025 in collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC). Moreover, it has engaged more than 140 government entities, private sector organisations, and educational institutions across the UAE.

The initiative aims to collect 100,000 used electronic devices. These devices are refurbished, recycled, and distributed to students worldwide. As a result, the campaign supports global access to learning while promoting sustainability.

In addition, the initiative reflects a comprehensive vision. It integrates education, humanitarian efforts, and environmental sustainability. It also strengthens its position as a leading global effort to expand digital learning for underserved communities.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, and Chairman of the Digital School, highlighted the campaign’s impact. He stated that the achievements align with the UAE’s vision to use technology for humanitarian and community empowerment.

Furthermore, he noted that the initiative promotes partnerships between government, private sector, and the community. These efforts help build resilient digital education ecosystems that support global transformation.

Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, also emphasised the initiative’s significance. He said the campaign reflects the UAE’s model of combining humanitarian work with environmental sustainability.

He added that the results show strong community awareness and commitment to social responsibility. The initiative goes beyond device donations. It empowers students with access to quality education and supports their academic journey.

Meanwhile, the partnership between the Digital School and the Emirates Red Crescent enhances the campaign’s impact. It supports both education and sustainability through reuse and recycling. It also contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The campaign was first launched in 2023 during the UAE’s Year of Sustainability. Since then, it has delivered measurable environmental benefits. Collected devices, weighing around 320 metric tonnes, helped reduce 320 tonnes of CO2 emissions. They also saved over 1.5 million kilowatts of energy and reduced fuel consumption by more than 460,000 litres. Additionally, the initiative limited electronic waste equivalent to over 90,000 square metres.

The process follows a structured framework. It begins with device collection and classification. Then, usable devices are refurbished through secure data wiping, maintenance, and reconditioning. Devices that cannot be reused are recycled using environmentally safe methods.

After that, refurbished devices are distributed through a complete educational model. This includes digital classrooms, teacher training, and educational content. Therefore, the initiative ensures long-term impact.

So far, devices have reached countries such as Jordan, Mauritania, Lebanon, and Egypt. They have also supported schools within the UAE. In addition, the second edition shipped 1,050 computers to Lesotho, Namibia, and Angola. These efforts supported the establishment of 30 schools with integrated digital learning spaces in collaboration with local education ministries.

The initiative has also built a strong logistics network. It works with national shipping companies to reduce costs and speed up delivery.

The campaign is implemented in partnership with the Emirates Red Crescent, the Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment, and Ecycles. The Digital School continues to encourage individuals and organisations to contribute devices or funds through official channels or its website.

Contributions can also be made via SMS. &e subscribers can send messages to 2441, while du subscribers can use 3551.

The Digital School, launched in November 2020 by His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is the first accredited digital school of its kind. It has reached more than 850,000 beneficiaries across 40 countries. It offers programmes in seven languages in partnership with governments, organisations, and universities. It is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges in the United States. Overall, the initiative continues to expand global access to digital education.

[9649,9624
["post-105102","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-education-smart-sectors","category-smart-sectors
["GET
