The Abu Dhabi green bus fleet has exceeded 1.3 million eco-friendly kilometres since operations began in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This milestone highlights the emirate\u2019s rapid shift toward sustainable transport. It also reflects its strong commitment to low-emission and smart mobility solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, the fleet includes buses powered by hydrogen fuel cell technology and electric <a href=\"https:\/\/techxmedia.com\/en\/category\/smart-sectors\/energy-industry-news\/\">energy<\/a>. These vehicles show the growing adoption of clean technologies in the public transport sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Abdullah Hamad Al Ghafli, Acting Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre, commented on the achievement. He said surpassing one million kilometres demonstrates the success of investments in clean technology. He added that it enhances operational efficiency and improves user experience. It also directly supports the UAE\u2019s Net Zero 2050 targets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the milestone coincided with World Public Transport Day on 17 April. During this occasion, the centre launched the \u201cPublic Transport to Work\u201d initiative for its employees. The global event, organised by the International Association of Public Transport, saw cities worldwide promoting sustainable mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the initiative encourages employees to use public buses for daily commutes. This helps reduce traffic congestion and lower carbon emissions.
