The Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG)<\/a> has launched the Master in Innovation Management and AI Governance (MIMAIG), a new programme focused on government policy and innovation governance. The initiative aims to prepare future leaders for rapid digital transformation and the growing impact of artificial intelligence on the public sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch was announced during a special event attended by academics, policymakers and industry professionals. Through the programme, MBRSG aims to support the development of leaders capable of managing emerging technologies and future government challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ali bin Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President of MBRSG, said the programme marks an important step in empowering government leaders to address the impact of artificial intelligence across public sector operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said artificial intelligence<\/a> is fundamentally reshaping the public sector, adding that governments will require qualified and agile leaders who can navigate increasingly complex transformations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, Al Marri noted that the programme aligns with the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031. He added that it also supports the country\u2019s ambition to transition 50 percent of government sectors, services and operations to agentic AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the event, Prof. Yousif El-Ghalayini, Acting Dean of Academic Affairs and Executive Master of Public Administration Programme Coordinator at MBRSG, delivered a keynote address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He explained that the programme has been designed to equip leaders with the skills needed to manage evolving technologies and address future government demands. In addition, he stressed that adopting technology alone is not enough, highlighting that reskilling and upskilling have become urgent global priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Prof. Melodena Stephens, Professor of Innovation and Technology Governance and Programme Head at MBRSG, described the programme as unprecedented in scope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said the initiative is intended to prepare leaders to navigate breakthroughs that are reshaping public administration and policymaking worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch event also featured specialised sessions led by MBRSG faculty members. These included presentations by Prof. Stephens and Prof. Mark Esposito, Professor of Economic Policy, who discussed the programme\u2019s global relevance in AI governance and policy development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the event concluded with an alumni panel discussion titled \u201cThe Future-Ready Government, Why Governments Need Innovation Leaders Now\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session featured Basmah Al Zeyoudi, Innovation Manager at EDGE, and Dr Khawla AlHajaj.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The panellists discussed how innovation can strengthen governments\u2019 future readiness across multiple sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, the programme combines innovation management, AI governance, public policy and strategic leadership through a \u201cquintuple helix\u201d model. The approach integrates theoretical learning, experiential education and personal development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 180-credit programme includes 120 credits of taught modules and a 60-credit dissertation. It also offers a blended learning model that combines in-person and online weekend classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students can complete the programme full-time in 18 months or part-time over two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants will also have opportunities to join international field visits to technology hubs, embassies and international organisations. These visits are designed to provide exposure to global governance practices and innovation models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
