Skills for Life has been launched by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA)<\/a> under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. The new initiative aims to help learners across Dubai develop essential life skills and adapt to a rapidly changing world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by the idea that education is a lifelong journey, Skills for Life extends learning beyond the classroom and across every stage of life. The initiative will support learners from early childhood through adulthood by helping them build practical, personal, and social skills. It also aligns with the goals of Dubai’s Education 33 Strategy (E33).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, the initiative was launched during the UAE’s Year of the Family. It supports the objectives of the National Education Charter introduced by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, alongside Dubai’s Education 33 Strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skills for Life is designed to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, mindsets, and values needed to succeed in a fast-changing world. It also aims to promote lifelong learning, enable individuals to reach their full potential, and encourage positive contributions to society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative will be introduced during the 2026-27 academic year. Furthermore, it will continue evolving to address the changing needs of learners, communities, and the future workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of Skills for Life, learners will develop a broad range of capabilities integrated into learning environments and curricula. Key focus areas include healthy lifestyles, nutrition, financial and consumer literacy, social and relationship skills, mental resilience, digital skills and practices, sustainability, and independent daily life management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative responds to an increasingly connected, complex, technology driven, and unpredictable world. As technology continues to reshape how people live, learn, and work, learners will be encouraged to build confidence, adaptability, resilience, and a strong sense of purpose to embrace future opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, Skills for Life complements Dubai’s quality assurance standards and the emirate’s Academic and Career Guidance Policy. It seeks to enhance learning experiences throughout every stage of education<\/a> while helping learners make informed academic and career decisions. The initiative also provides the knowledge and practical experiences needed to plan effectively for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme further reflects the growing importance of wellbeing, sustainability, global citizenship, and future readiness. It supports learners in making informed decisions, building meaningful relationships, and contributing positively to their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognising that learning takes place in many environments, the initiative encourages collaboration among educational institutions, educators, parents, employers, and the wider community. This collaborative approach aims to create enriching learning experiences beyond traditional classrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skills for Life also supports several flagship Game Changer initiatives under the Education 33 Strategy. These include Future Astrolabe, which strengthens academic and career guidance across educational institutions, City of Students, which enhances educational experiences for learners in Dubai, Life Camps focused on life skills development, Learn Anywhere, which improves education quality across all learning phases based on international best practices, and Skills for Tomorrow, which identifies future skills required by learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the initiative is backed by local and international partnerships. These collaborations aim to strengthen youth leadership capabilities and expand access to internationally recognised non-formal learning pathways delivered outside traditional academic settings.
