The rollout follows directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to accelerate AI adoption across government operations and customer services.

The deployment spans DEWA’s website, smart app, Smart Office employee application, dashboards and internal platforms. Initially, it focuses on service design, customer digital experience, quality monitoring and the Testing Centre of Excellence. With this move, DEWA said it has become one of the first utilities globally to deploy agentic AI in a production environment.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, said the initiative aligns with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to strengthen Dubai’s leadership in artificial intelligence and future technologies.

He said DEWA continues to integrate advanced AI applications across its digital and operational ecosystem to support its transformation into a world class utility, with AI serving as a core part of its operational and service infrastructure.

Al Tayer added that the deployment represents a significant milestone in reshaping government services for the AI era. He noted that it moves beyond conventional digital interactions toward an integrated service ecosystem connected to global AI platforms. According to him, this approach enhances efficiency, accelerates service delivery and improves digital experiences for customers and stakeholders.

He also said DEWA is expanding these technologies while maintaining the highest standards of governance, security and privacy. This supports the objectives of the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 and UAE Centennial 2071.

Furthermore, DEWA said the initiative reflects its proactive approach to supporting national priorities through practical AI applications across its services and operations. The authority established the required digital and technology infrastructure early, allowing it to activate agentic AI capabilities across priority platforms soon after the latest government directives were announced.

In addition, DEWA said it became the first government entity in the UAE to adopt Microsoft Copilot Cowork within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, further strengthening AI adoption across its workplace.

DEWA agentic AI also supports user interface and user experience designers, front end AI engineers and developers. AI agents generate interface components, maintain design consistency and identify deviations from approved standards. According to DEWA, this has reduced component production and review time while improving design consistency across platforms by around 80 percent.

The authority also highlighted the continued development of Rammas, its AI powered virtual assistant launched in 2017. Rammas now uses GPT 4o, released in February 2025, to deliver real time responses by extracting relevant information directly from DEWA’s website.

DEWA said it was the first utility globally, and the first government entity in the UAE, to adopt generative AI for direct customer interaction and inquiry resolution. Since its launch in 2017 until mid June 2026, Rammas has handled more than 13 million inquiries across DEWA’s communication channels.

Meanwhile, at the Testing Centre of Excellence, AI agents embedded within the engineering pipeline automatically generate test plans, test cases and requirement traceability matrices from project specifications. They also execute tests and produce comprehensive execution reports.

The deployment supports performance, security, localisation, integration, accessibility and acceptance testing. DEWA said these capabilities have improved digital test verification efficiency by approximately 85 percent, expanded automated test coverage and enhanced the quality of digital channels by up to 93 percent.

These capabilities are supported by DEWA’s Agent Development Kit, which enables teams to develop and scale agentic AI applications while complying with governance, security and privacy requirements.

Looking ahead, DEWA said it will continue expanding DEWA agentic AI across additional platforms within a unified and secure digital ecosystem. The authority expects the initiative to further strengthen the resilience, efficiency and sustainability of government services in Dubai.

[9653,9624
72,73
9732
post-106334","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-energy-industry-news","category-smart-sectors","tag-dubai","tag-uae","contributor-news-desk
["GET
