The company announced the project on Wednesday, marking its largest AI data centre outside the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new AI data centre will be located in Sturgeon County, Alberta. It will be powered by a natural gas-fired power plant to support Meta&#8217;s growing artificial intelligence infrastructure and computing needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, Meta said the facility will use a closed-loop cooling system designed to reduce environmental impact. The system will not draw water from surrounding natural sources, helping conserve local water resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the company plans to invest US$42 million in local infrastructure. The funding will support improvements to roads and water systems in the surrounding community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investment reflects Meta&#8217;s continued expansion of its global AI infrastructure as demand for artificial intelligence computing continues to grow.
