The move is expected to deepen technology cooperation while supporting the UAE’s growing artificial intelligence ambitions.

According to Reuters, the U.S. Commerce Department has updated its export regulations, allowing the UAE government and approved organizations to access advanced computing items without requiring export licenses.

For the UAE, the biggest impact is easier access to advanced AI chips and servers that power generative AI, large language models, cloud platforms, and AI data centers. These high performance processors, particularly from Nvidia, are widely used to train and run modern AI applications.

The updated rules benefit UAE technology companies including G42 and Core42. In addition, U.S. companies operating in the UAE, including Amazon, Apple, Google, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI, Oracle, and xAI, will no longer require licenses to receive eligible advanced computing items.

As a result, businesses can deploy AI infrastructure more quickly by reducing regulatory requirements and shortening procurement timelines. This is expected to support the expansion of AI services across government and enterprise sectors.

According to Reuters, the Commerce Department has also said it will favorably review export license applications involving UAE investment company MGX. This could further strengthen investments in AI infrastructure and advanced computing projects.

Beyond AI, the revised regulations allow license free exports for selected technologies used in oil and gas production, civil nuclear power generation, commercial satellites, spacecraft, and certain military and dual use equipment.

Another notable development is that the UAE has been placed in a U.S. country grouping that provides broader license exceptions for controlled technologies. It is the only country in this category that is not a member of the multilateral export control regimes. Other members are primarily NATO countries and close U.S. allies.

Reuters also noted that the UAE remains the largest U.S. trading partner in the Middle East, with more than $1 trillion in foreign direct investment in the United States. The latest policy builds on the framework finalized in May 2025, which paved the way for increased exports of Nvidia AI chips to the UAE.

Overall, the US UAE AI chip exports policy represents a significant step in strengthening technology ties between the two countries. By simplifying access to advanced AI hardware and strategic technologies, the new framework is expected to support the UAE’s long term goals in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital infrastructure.

[9619
73,2365
9732
post-106390","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-top-stories","tag-uae","tag-us","contributor-news-desk
["GET
