As a result, apps are under growing pressure to verify user age before granting access to certain content or features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The age assurance technology, known as the Play Age Signals API<\/a>, is already active in Brazil. It will expand to Australia and Canada by mid-August. By the end of 2026, it is expected to reach markets across the globe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Crucially, the system protects user privacy while enabling safety. It does not expose sensitive details such as a user’s exact date of birth. Instead, apps receive only a general age category, just enough information to deliver age-appropriate content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This means children and teens can enjoy a safer, more suitable digital experience without compromising their personal data. The approach mirrors a broader industry trend, following Apple’s own global age-verification rollout earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Age settings will also become easier to manage.
