Dubai has achieved an impressive AI ranking of second place worldwide in the Intelligent Cities Index<\/a>, a new report by Boston Consulting Group (BCG). The study evaluated 61 cities across 39 countries. As a result, the ranking confirms Dubai’s global leadership in using advanced technologies and AI to improve quality of life, strengthen government services, and support business growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The index, published for the first time by BCG, measures how mature cities are in deploying digital technologies and AI. It focuses on delivering real outcomes for residents and businesses. Specifically, it assesses cities across five domains: Outcomes, Strategy, Adoption, Ways of Working, and Enablers. Furthermore, it uses 35 indicators covering 14 dimensions of digital transformation. Together, these measures offer a full picture of how well cities use technology to drive sustainable growth and boost global competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the report, Dubai ranks first globally in the Adoption of AI technologies and smart city<\/a> solutions. This was the strongest-performing domain in the entire index and a key factor behind its strong AI ranking. As a result, this reflects Dubai’s wide use of AI applications and smart digital services across many sectors. Moreover, this performance has helped Dubai achieve one of the highest levels of digital maturity among all cities studied. In turn, it highlights Dubai’s ability to turn advanced technology into practical services that create real value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting on the achievement, His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of Digital Dubai, said the outstanding result reflects the vision of Dubai’s leadership. He noted that digital transformation and AI have become strategic priorities for building an efficient government and a future-ready city. He added that Dubai’s success stems from an integrated digital ecosystem built on shared data, infrastructure, and close collaboration across government and economic sectors. Consequently, this ecosystem helps convert technology into services that benefit society and strengthen the economy. He further stated that AI in Dubai goes beyond being an emerging technology; instead, it acts as a catalyst for improving daily life, simplifying services, and driving economic growth. Therefore, Dubai plans to continue investing in shared digital infrastructure and expanding AI use across all sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, His Excellency Khalfan Juma Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation, said the strong showing reflects Dubai’s forward-looking approach. He explained that this approach focuses on turning emerging technologies into practical applications for people and the economy. Additionally, he noted that leadership in AI is not about the number of technologies used, but about the impact they create. He said Dubai continues to set a global benchmark for future readiness through an ecosystem that combines innovation, research, agile regulation, and strategic partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report also found that cities placing AI at the core of their operations achieve faster, more sustainable improvements in service delivery. Similarly, it noted that leading AI cities offer a wider range of real-world AI applications and enjoy higher resident satisfaction. This, in turn, points to a broader shift toward treating AI as central to city operations rather than as a supporting tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the report identified a strong link between frequent use of generative AI tools and greater public trust in these technologies. It also found more positive views about AI’s future role among frequent users. Finally, the report noted that cities across the Middle East, including Dubai, show particularly strong enthusiasm for adopting AI, reinforcing Dubai’s strong AI ranking as a model for future-ready cities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
