Cloudflare<\/a> has introduced Cloudflare OS, a new open source AI workspace designed around how companies actually operate. Cloudflare OS runs on Cloudflare’s global network and gives every employee a secure workspace equipped with AI tools. It also connects directly to internal company systems. As a result, organizations no longer need new infrastructure or months of custom development to get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Cloudflare<\/a>, most enterprise AI tools know a great deal about the world but very little about a specific company’s internal systems. Every session starts from zero. Employees end up re-explaining context the AI should already know. Building a tailored alternative, meanwhile, is no small undertaking. A platform with proper security and real integration into internal systems can take years to build and cost millions to maintain. In the meantime, employees find workarounds, IT teams lose track of which tools are running, and costs pile up with little to show for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cloudflare OS takes a different approach. Instead of starting over each time, a company captures its knowledge, processes, and ways of working once, in a form AI can execute. That knowledge then travels with every employee’s workspace from day one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, Cloudflare OS began as the internal platform Cloudflare built to run its own global workforce. Today, thousands of Cloudflare employees across every team use it daily. They rely on it for research, for creating documents connected to live data, for automating repetitive tasks, and for building working apps for everyday jobs. Internal tools, documents, and company systems are all reachable through secure connection points that verify every user and every request before granting access. That same platform is now available to any organization as open source software. Because it is open source and runs inside a company’s own Cloudflare account, organizations retain ownership of what they build. Their processes, context, and internal system connections are not locked into a closed vendor product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch includes several key capabilities. First, an Agent Workspace for Everyone gives employees browser-based access without requiring developer expertise. They can conduct research, produce documents tied to live data, or run automated workflows in the background without waiting on IT. Second, Apps Anyone Can Build and Share lets any output become a working app with its own isolated database, real-time capabilities, and access controls, all without a developer. Third, Zero Trust by Default is built into the system through Cloudflare Access<\/a>, which verifies every user and every request before granting anything. AI agents start with zero permissions and receive access only to what a specific task requires. Governed connectors, called Gatekeepers, let system owners control precisely what the AI can see, what it can change, and when a human must approve an action. Finally, the platform Works on Any Model and Controls Cost. Through Cloudflare AI Gateway, organizations can use any AI model provider rather than being locked into one. Administrators can also see spending broken down by person, team, or app, and can set budgets, rate limits, or route routine tasks to smaller, more affordable models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Cloudflare OS is how we run Cloudflare. For AI to truly transform an enterprise, it can’t live in a silo or behind a developer bottleneck. Every employee needs the ability to build, iterate, and automate safely. Our employees get AI tools connected to the systems they actually use, and security isn’t something IT has to bolt on afterward,” said Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare. “We built this because nothing else did what we needed. Now any company can start from where it took us years to get.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To help organizations deploy the platform in complex environments, Cloudflare is also working with global systems integrators, including Presidio, Happy Cog, and others. These partners build directly on Cloudflare’s infrastructure to tailor the workspace to specific industry requirements, existing technology stacks, and compliance needs. Matt Weinberg, co-founder and president at Happy Cog, said security and governance can no longer be treated as an afterthought when deploying autonomous agents and internal AI tools. He added that grounding the platform in Cloudflare’s Zero Trust network and capability-based security model sets a new standard for safe enterprise execution, and that Happy Cog is proud to help organizations curate context, deploy Gatekeepers, and roll out enterprise-grade AI applications safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
