The company says all conversations on the platform remain private, thanks to end-to-end encryption by default. Additionally, WhatsApp continues to roll out new features to strengthen account protection.

First, two-step verification has been upgraded. Previously, users relied on a six-digit PIN. Now, WhatsApp has replaced it with a full password. This password is longer, alphanumeric, and can include special characters, making it significantly harder for anyone to guess. As a result, this extra layer helps prevent account takeovers, even if someone manages to obtain a one-time passcode.

Next, WhatsApp is adding more context to incoming calls. Specifically, when a call comes in from a number not saved in your contacts, Android users will now see additional details. This includes whether the number originates from a different country and whether you share any groups in common with the caller. Since scammers often rely on urgency to pressure victims, this feature allows users to pause and evaluate before answering.

Furthermore, passkey adoption has reached a major milestone. More than one billion people have already set up a passkey, which lets users log into WhatsApp using their fingerprint, face ID, or screen lock code. Notably, no codes or PINs are required, making it the fastest and most secure way to verify identity. Users can now also add multiple passkeys to a single account, which is especially useful for those switching between Android and iOS devices. To set this up, users can go to Settings, then Account, then Passkeys.

Overall, these updates reflect WhatsApp’s ongoing commitment to WhatsApp security. From stronger passwords to smarter caller information and expanded passkey support, the company says it will keep building tools that help users stay in control of their accounts.

[9617
2522
9732
post-107009","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-latest-news","tag-whatsapp","contributor-news-desk
["GET
